A fine pair of early 19th century Imari vases and covers. With a bell shaped cover surmounted by a foo dog (or shishi), the large and wide baluster bodies are hand painted with wide bands of cobalt and spare floral decoration.

A very fine Regency bullseye fireplace in statuary marble, with beautiful scagliola embellishments. This chimneypiece is utterly charming, small in proportion and decorated with scrolling scagliola work, reminiscent of the Roman decorative motifs found at archaeological sites such as Herculaneum, which later inspired the work of architects such as Robert Adam.

A fine antique Louis XVI fireplace in a beautifully veined Seravezza marble. The fireplace has a moulded shelf which rests over a stop-fluted frieze, framed by acanthus paterae over elegant jambs.

French, mid 19th century.

Notes: Seravezza marble has been one of the most sought after since antiquity. Widely used by the Etruscans, the Tuscan quarries were later purchased by the Medici family, who used the marble for many of the buildings in Florence. Michelangelo was sent to open the quarry and improve access to it, but it has since closed, making fireplaces in this marble particularly sought after.

A fine neoclassical chimneypiece in pure white statuary marble, inlaid with a warm Sicilian jasper. The moulded shelf rests over the frieze of crisply reeded inlay, which is centred by an urnular tablet, and supported by paterae endblocks. These decorative features are echoed again in the jambs.

A fine and large Neoclassical fireplace in statuary and Siena marble. The thick moulded shelf of this fireplace rests on a frieze set with a generous panel of richly veined, yellow Siena marble, which is centred by a wreath and lyre tablet. Paterae endblocks over elegant jambs, which are also mounted with wide bands of Siena.

A rare pair of very fine Louis XV marble fireplaces in a beautifully veined breche voilette marble. On each, the serpentine shelf is mounted over the serpentine frieze, beautifully carved with a central acanthine cartouche, which in turns rests on generous console jambs, their side returns fitted with fine brass vents.

It is extraordinarily rare to have an original pair of fireplaces of such quality.

French, mid-19th century.

An extremely striking French Pompadour Rococo fireplace in a boldly veined dove grey Bardiglio Fiorito marble. The serpentine panelled frieze is flanked by scrolling endblocks and supported on angled panelled jambs over plain footblocks. Small but perfectly formed, and an ideal size for a small room.

A very fine Piedmontese giltwood pier mirror. This beautiful mirror has a wonderfully patinated arched mercury plate, which is enclosed by a slender marginal plate of the same glass. The refined rocaille frame is topped by the most magnificent pierced scrollwork crest, and the whole is raised on sweeping acanthus feet.

Piedmont, c.1750.

This mirror would be magnificent over a fireplace, or a console table.

A grand late Regency overmantel mirror of exceptional quality. The giltwood frame is richly embellished with acanthine and scrollwork decoration, with a particularly magnificent crest. This encloses the original silvered plate.

An elegant chimneypiece of a good size in a pure white statuary marble with Siena marble ingrounds. The inverse breakfronted shelf rests over a crisply fluted frieze, which is mounted with a tablet, deftly carved with a reclining figure holding a harp. This detail is echoed on the endblocks, which are decorated with a foliate lyre and trumpets. These are mounted over the slender scrolling console jambs.
An interesting chimneypiece, spanning the stylistic gap between the Georgian and Regency periods.

A set of three Scottish fireclay urns of campana form by Garnkirk Fireclay Works. The urns are simply decorated with leaf tip mouldings to the rim, gadrooned bodies mounted with loop handles.
They would look wonderful on plinths, or perhaps mounted on a wall.

The Garnkirk Fireclay Works was a renowned maker of bricks and decorative objects in the 19th century. Their clay was renowned for its durability and also light colour, making it a leader in the field of manufacture of garden urns.

A rare mid-19th century Italian beadwork circular wine table. The glass covered and brightly coloured geometric and foliate patterned beadwork top is executed using tiny glass and metal beads individually sewn onto a fabric backing, this is contained within a deeply moulded walnut frame, raised on a turned central column supported by three scrolled and carved legs.

An exceptionally fine and rare pair of Venetian giltwood mirrors or pier glasses. Mirrors of this type, especially those in an original pair are vanishingly rare. Their gilded giltwood frames take an organic form, the whole carved with rocaille, c-scrolls and floral embellishments, with a mirrored rocaille crest. This Rococo design encloses the more traditional frames that are the signature of the Venetian style, which in turn borders the most magnificently patinated original mercury plates.

Italian, c.1760.

Provenance: From a palazzo in Venice.

Notes: It is likely that this pair of mirrors was made on the island of Murano, known as the 'Isle of Glass'. It has been the centre of fine glassmaking for centuries.

The most charming Regency bullseye fireplace in slate, which has been cut across the grain to make a feature of the natural striations in the stone. Ordinarily slate fireplaces of this period were painted, but this one was carefully made to showcase the beauty of the stone.
