A rare set of three large and unusual steel and brass firetools comprising poker / log roller, tongs and shovel...all with fleur de lys handles, together with a pair of integral firetool rests. Continental, probably Russian, in the manner of Tula, the arms factory west of Moscow. TULA, the birthplace of Tolstoy, has been the center of Russian armaments production since the time of Peter the Great. An iron chimneypiece made by the Tula factory can be seen in the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington.
