A very fine example of a Louis XVI style Statuary Marble fireplace surround. The breakfront shelf rests above a bead framed frieze centred by a delicately carved ribboned, leaf and berry wreath and sprigs, flanked on the endblocks by square foliate paterae. The tapering jambs are surmounted by large acanthus leaf corbels above rope moulding.
