A large Louis XV style chimneypiece in finely figured Italian Arabescato Marble. The wide serpentine shelf of this antique fire surround rests on the panelled frieze which is centred by a finely carved classical female mask with acanthus leaf scrolls above the shaped opening. The endblocks bear smaller masks above tapering, angled volute jambs. French, circa 1870.
