    A George the II Japanned longcase clock by James Jorden. The brass eight day, five pillar movement, with an anchor escapement strikes on a single bell. The twelve inch brass arched top dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, with a matted centre engraved is with a basket of flowers and birds, with a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture and signed 'Iam Iorden, Chatham', with gilt putti and crown spandrels, in the arch is an engraved boss of a bird. The case is in its original 18th century black and green lacquer, decorated with chinoiserie scenes, with gilt highlights.

  • Pair of 19th century Crystal Chandeliers Reserved

    A pair of very fine and large nineteenth-century Northern Italian crystal chandeliers. The pair of eight branch chandeliers have elegant central stems mounted with silvered scalloped bowls which are hung with crisply cut prism drops, from which emanate elegant swan neck arms, strung with beads and drops. The chandeliers are crowned with beautiful canes of curled glass, hung with faceted glass drops.

    A small Japanese style 19th century ebonised and gilt wood sideboard with Thuya veneered panels and top. The central pull down door with a delicately carved and gilded Japanese scene of a stylised landscape of trees and birds within a Thuya wood frame, is flanked by two sets of three Thuya fronted drawers, with original brass handles and two long drawers above. In the lower half of the cabinet are a further pair of doors decorated with Japanese style foliage and birds also with original locks and brass handles.

    Stamped on the top of one of the drawers, Gillow & Co 12296.

    A grand and imposing Victorian fireplace in dramatic portoro marble, with rare and beautiful Cornish serpentine columns. The fireplace's inverted breakfront shelf looms over an undershelf studded with crisplycarved Cornish serpentine dentils. Under this, the central keystone, ionic capitals and bases are highlighted in dramatic Belgian black marble. The double full columns stand out in serpentine against the bold gold veining of the portoro. The columns are mounted on generous footblocks and frame the arched opening.

    A fine late 19th century profusely carved Walnut French two tier cabinet. The three upper doors with finely carver panels are separated by pairs of slender turned columns, beneath a corbeled and paneled freeze, below the galleried cornice with central pediment. The central panels to the doors of the lower cabinet, each containing a carved shield are bordered by smaller rectangular panels with pyramids to the corners, these are flanked by a pair of turned and carved columns, below two drawers with deeply mouded fronts and brass handles, the cabinet is raised on a moulded plinth over bun feet. Both the upper and lower cabinets have Oak interiors with two Oak shelves the upper cabinet and one to the lower.

    A very fine and large giltwood Venetian wall mirror. The frame is surmounted by a floral crest above an oval mirror plate etched with an urn of flowers, and this is supported by foliate scrolls and mirrored spandrels, which are engraved with bunches of grapes. The foliate scrollwork continues around the frame and this encloses eight exquisite marginal plates, each engraved with a slightly different subject, some with a musical theme. The corners are embellished with ruby glass behind an acanthus leaf, and this surrounds the original mercury plate. A very fine and rare mirror.

    A very fine Victorian register grate with a fox hunting theme. The cast iron and brass insert conforms to the style of the Aesthetic movement, with the exception of the rare gilt brass panels, cast in high relief with a horse and rider, a stag, a fox, a retriever and a hound. A rider's crop and a huntsman's horn form part of the decorative scheme. Likely to have been a special commission for a country residence!
