Stock No.12566
A LARGE SOUTH GERMAN OR AUSTRIAN CERAMIC / FAIENCE STOVE or KACHELOFEN, IN THE BAROQUE MANNER. Built in nine sections of typical Bombe format, fired in white with light green floral decoration, complete with iron firebox door and opening to retrieve ash, supported on four baluster legs. It is full round so can be stood away from the wall and there is a 8 x 12 cm opening at the rear for the chimney. Mid 19th century, possibly earlier.
NOTES : These are very efficient and fuel economic room heaters as the heated air is retained in the various chambers delaying the exit up the chimney, heating the walls of the whole stove from whence the heat radiates into the room.
