A very finely carved Louis XVI fireplace is softly veined Carrara marble. The moulded shelf sits above a beautifully carved frieze, depicting a bound quiver and sprigs of laurel. This is flanked by acanthus paterae endblocks, which in turn rest above acanthus console jambs.
French, late 19th century.
