Stock No.16285
A fine Scottish Rococo statuary marble chimneypiece. The moulded serpentine shelf rests above a dramatic panelled frieze, centred by a rocailled motif, and scrolling foliate decoration. This is echoed by the beautifully carved c scroll enblocks, aboce console jambs decorated with hanging bellflowers, and terminating in scrolling acanthus leaves.
Scottish Rococo chimneypieces are much rarer than their continental counterparts.
Scottish, early 19th century.
