Stock No.15251
A Louis XVI style antique chimneypiece in softly hued grey, black and white Arabascato Marble. The moulded breakfront shelf rests above a stop fluted frieze flanked by finely carved floral endblocks. The scrolled stop fluted jambs are supported on sturdy footblocks in front of deep side returns.
French, late 19th century.
Notes: Arabascato Marble is from a bedrock quarry in the Apuan Mountains near Carrara in Italy and is a classic Italian marble. The black veining on the pure white background is synonymous with opulence and luxury and its simplicity works very well in both contemporary or traditional interiors.
