A very fine and large French Louis XVI chimneypiece in Carrara marble. The thick double shelf rests over the wide frieze, which is crisply carved in low relief with acanthus leaves and strapwork. This is flanked by paterae endblocks over jambs decorated with knotted laurel garlands. The opening is framed by elegant bolection slips.
