A very fine set of three large Neoclassical style cast iron antique fireplace
panels the central panel depicting a seated maiden possibly Minerva
the Roman Goddess of wisdom, medicine and crafts. Her name is
linked to the Latin word 'mens' meaning 'intellect' representing the intelligence and inventiveness of this Goddess.
Provenance: Skelmorlie Castle, Ayrshire, Scotland
