A Victorian mahogany overmantel mirror


Stock No.15414

A large Victorian carved mahogany overmantel mirror in the Neoclassical manner. The stepped top rests above a band of alternating bosses and fluting flanked by stylised corinthian topped flutted columns. The bevelled glass is enhanced by a most attractive frame of etched and cut foliate detail.

English, circa 1880.

Provenance.

Removed from the Greyhound pub, Fulham palace road, London. The Greyhound was a famous music venue in the 1970s and 80s, it played host to bands such as, Status Que, Uriah heep, Average white band, Thin lizzy, the Stranglers and the Jam, plus many others. It also featured punk music in the late 1970s.
