A pair of double sided Victorian gold painted cast iron grille or balcony panels, made by the Walter MacFarlane & Co. Foundry. in Glasgow, and decorated with central wreaths and arabesque scrolls flowerheads. The foundry mark can be seen on on both sides on each of the panels.Scottish, circa 1860.
The Saracen Foundry of Walter MacFarlane & Co. Ltd was located in Possilpark, Glasgow. They were renowned ornamental and architectural ironmongers with a worldwide reputation most notably for their highly ornate garden fountains.
