A large and imposing white Statuary Marble Gothic Revival chimneypiece together with it's original cast iron and brass mounted insert. The shaped moulded shelf rests above triple columns which frame the slow arched opening and are linked by a large central keystone with deeply carved quatrefoil and shield detail. Larger carved quatrefoil appear on the spandrels. The cast iron insert, with integral toothed front grate bars, is distinctive for its applied cast brass Gothic tracery. English, circa 1840.
