An elegant Louis XVI style 19th century fireplace, crisply carved from Carrara marble, with a finely carved central foliate paterae flanked by the split panelled frieze. The paterae endblocks are of the same acanthus form, and are supported by flat, stop fluted jambs, which in turn rest on plain footblocks. French, late 19th century.
