Stock No.15218
A very fine and grand 19th century arched fireplace in a pure white Bianco P marble. Perhaps the best feature of this fireplace is the exceptional carving; the moulded shelf rests on an underfrieze carved with an egg and dart moulding, which in turn sits above the beautifully carved stop-fluted freize, with a central ribboned garland of laurel leaves. The beautifully stepped and panelled jambs are also decorated with deftly carved ribboned laurel. These substantial jambs enclose an arched opening with very decorative foliate spandrels.
Belgian, mid-19th century.
